I'm so excited to share this album with you!
Close your eyes & heal.
The hadopelagic zone of the ocean is the deepest part. Hadopelagia means the deepest space of things.
I hoped to step off the soapbox of my earlier music & explore something other than trying to say something so loudly.*
Production-wise, I do favor minimalism here. Even if I heard a bassline or drum in my head during recording, I did my best to keep it more mellow.*
Drums are rare on this album. I've listed at the bottom of this description "songs with drums" so you don't have to hunt.

*I did include "Mystified", a song about a piece of my feelings towards racism, white privilege, empire, the education system & brushing history under the rug in favor of mathematics & the American revolutionary war.
I also included "Echo" (ft. Gym, Deer) from my "ecoLectronica" project. I remade it also, into a dizzier more stripped version. "Whales" was also recorded & originally released on that album, but I've moved it to "Hadopelagia". They are not new songs from my catalog, but those two songs were leading me to Hadopelagia. Other songs I feel did not fit on this project have been placed on the "I'm Not Sorry" release.

What began as a project with a hundred melodies, was narrowed to 30, & then to this.
I would describe the music from Hadopelagia as thus: enchanting, dreamtime balladerie, wyrd inspirations, mermaid lullabies, Antarctic mystery, siren prose, Unseen synesthesia, exploration of experiential spiritual reality, historical meditation on a syntheist odyssey, swimming in mythopoeia, the romance of being alive.

This album is dedicated to the Ocean, to all water.

This album is also dedicated to both of my Grandmothers. Always supporting & loving. Two different women whose children happened to get married, who inspired me in different ways.

The facepaint on my nose & forehead was inspired by both a tree, a delta on a map, & a trident, as well as just being inspired to open up. The facepaint on my cheek was drawn by the photographer - he said it was a rune meaning protection.
